The Lies That Define Us is an amazing read!
Ari has secrets. She has a past that she doesn't even want to believe. She lies to herself and others to cope. She is amazingly strong and I loved her complexity.
I was so desperate to stay out of his clutches that I was now entrusting my wellbeing to strangers. I was a survivor, though, and I'd do what I had to do.
Liam sends out a fuck-off vibe. He doesn't like people in his bubble or vicinity or asking questions. Liam was hurt and has pushed everyone away, including his family. Liam is successful, quiet, thoughtful, and patient. He is also an asshole at times.
When events and circumstances change you...well, they fucking change you. There are scars left on you. Not physical ones, but ones that pierce your soul, and those are the kind that never fade or go away. They're for forever.
Ari knows her past is eventually going to catch up with her. She doesn't want her new friends to get caught up in her secrets.
My secrets were life and death.
My memories were covered in the blood of others and the loss of my own innocence.
But he'd never know that.
He couldn't, because the truth would get him killed just like it would me.
In the end...the truth always comes out.
I loved this book! The secrets and lies weren't what I expected. There is suspense, romance, twists, and a sad HEA. I highly recommend reading Ari and Liam's story.
