Something Beautiful: A Novella by Jamie McGuire - Review

Release Date: August 18, 2015
Pages: 160

Excerpt:
"She's special, you know?  She's a daddy's girl, but she'll tell you where to stick it if she doesn't like what you have to say.  She'll slap a giant to protect the honor of her best friend.  She hates good-byes.  She wears this little gold cross around her neck and cusses like a sailor.  She's my happily ever after."

My Review:
Shepley might just be my favorite Maddox!  He is sweet, protective, patient, kind, but will kick the ass of anyone who disrespects his girl.  Shep will do anything for America even if that means sacrificing himself.  Definitely your next book boyfriend! (Although what Maddox isn't on your book boyfriend list, right?)

America isn't as secure as she normally comes across.  She has insecurities too and I loved that we got to see that side of her.

Something Beautiful is told in both Shep's and America's POV.  It is an amazing story that had me holding my breath and then clapping excitedly.

Jamie McGuire is an amazing author.  When it comes to her books you just have to read it, no matter what it's about, because I can guarantee you will love it.

 Release Date:  August 16, 2015
Location:  mostly California
Pages:  263

Excerpt:
"The clerk handed us our keys along with a warm chocolate chip cookie each.  On our way to the elevator, I offered him mine.  'Want my cookie?  I'm not going to eat it.'
'Sure. I'll eat you.'
'What did you just say?'
'I said I'd eat yours.'
I really need to get some sleep.  And perhaps a nice cold shower."

My review:
Holy Amazeballs!  Loved this book!  Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland are a dream team!

Aubrey is a red head which makes her a wee bit feisty...just a little, and she has her guard up, which she very well should after finding out her ex was a lying, cheating, bastard.  Aubrey is on a road trip moving cross-country for a fresh start. It is on one of her pit stops that she experiences the awesomeness that is Chance.
Chance is funny, perverted (comfortable with sexual innuendos in every situation), jealous, determined, sweet...ahhh just perfect.  Oh, did I mention he has an Aussie accent? NO!  Well he does!  He also has an amazing ass, rock hard abs, and he drives a Harley!
Anyways, Chance and Aubrey end up on the road trip together.  The details of this road trip had me cracking up laughing (my husband even found it funny!).  I'm not even going to explain what was so hilarious - you need to read this book!!  There are some twists and some parts that make you want to yell but not in a bad way!!  And it has my favorite - a happily ever after ending!  Who could ask for more?
Please read it!!

Schooled by Piper Lawson

Location: San Diego, California
Pages: 199

Excerpt:
"The strength that pulled me against him definitely did not belong to a kid, and the move brought the front of my body flush with his.  His fingers fisted my loose hair and he pulled down, forcing my head back more and opening my mouth under his.  My blood was thrumming in my vein and I could feel my heartbeat every second, everywhere.  The heat in my stomach, and lower, was driving me crazy and I arched my body toward him.  If this was a game I wasn't sure if we were winning or losing anymore."

Possible Spoilers: Beware!:
I'm so glad that Lex is head strong and didn't get caught up in partying or lose focus on what she really wanted.  She doesn't have many people in her life that she can rely on besides her best friend, Ava.  Her mother is crazy unsupportive and makes her feel unwanted, which is terrible and an epic fail.

Ava reminds me so much of what my oldest daughter is going to be like.  Ava's only focus is her designs, she loses everything in the chaos that is her room, and enjoys a good party, but she is an amazing friend to Lex.

Ava's family has, for the most part, taken Lex in.  Lex spent most of her free time at Ava's house, which means also growing up around Ava's little brother, Dylan.  Dylan is HOT!!  Let's just get that out of the way :)  I loved Dylan!  He is smart, nervous, confident, self sacrificing, and just PERFECT!  He wasn't a "badass" which I loved. He looked like one but didn't act like it. Don't get me wrong I enjoy a good badass but it wouldn't have worked for him.

Schooled is Piper Lawson's debut novel.  I can't wait to see what else she comes out with.  She made me feel frustrated, angry, and happy right along with the characters.  I would get all giddy waiting to see what happened next between Dylan and Lex.
